Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday of the year. Celebrated during my favorite season, it seems to be the one day that we get almost exactly right. It is a time for family and friends. It is a chance to rest, to reflect and to share hospitality. It is a time for tradition: great food, football, Turkey Trots and finding ways to help those with less. Most of all, it is a time for gratitude. This year, my list is long.
2016 has been extraordinary for TDn2K™. We often laugh about working in a twenty-year startup. It still feels like one a lot of days, as our business continues to evolve and grow. Our People Report™ membership is bigger than it has ever been. Black Box Intelligence™ has earned its reputation as the industry’s gold standard. White Box Social Intelligence™ has reached scale, a new model to manage market performance. Our team continues to grow too. I sincerely brag about having stunning colleagues. They are the true power of our brands.
At the top of our TDn2K gratitude list is our remarkable community of operators and partners. You support our work, push us further and make us stronger. What we love most about what we do is knowing that it makes a difference. When our community tells us that it does, the long days, tough decisions and deeper investment are all worth it. We don’t like to disappoint you.
We know that our decision to skip Summer Brand Camp this year was one of those disappointments. And, we’re not ready to bring it back in 2017. Our team is growing, but still small. Our goals for growth and profitability next year require us to follow the advice of Steve Jobs. “Focusing is about saying no.” Never say never, but we have to say “not now.”
In the spirit of gratitude and Thanksgiving, we want to thank and honor our unique and amazing Summer Brand Camp tribe. Next week, on #GivingTuesday, use the hashtag #SBrandCamp and we will make a donation to #NoKidHungry in your name. We are all grateful and richer for knowing one another. The work to leave it better than we found it is just getting started.
“If the only prayer you ever say in your entire life is thank you, that will be enough.” – Meister Eckhart
P.S. – we hope you’ll join us for the Global Best Practices Conference | January 29th – 31st in Dallas.
